What is network marketing exactly? It depends!
By that I mean it depends on who you speak to and on your perception of its use.
If you speak to someone who built a wildly successful business, who gets paid six-figures from that business, they will probably tell you:
"Network marketing" is brilliant, the best bar none, the greatest thing since sliced bread, and the absolute best method since the dawn of modern man for the average person to become financially free
If, on the other hand, you ask someone who has tried a lot different ways to earn an income online over the years but for whatever reason never actually succeeded they might say something like this:
"Network marketing is crap", it's a con! put together to deceive and swindle people out of their hard earned cash.
So who is right?
Neither Actually - Why? Because they are both opinions based upon their own individual experiences, neither of which answers our original question.

Let's ask Wikipedia who defines "Network Marketing" as a general term to be used when describing Multi Level marketing, Pyramid Selling, Referral Marketing and other different marketing methods, so no real help there.

Well In computing terms a network is a bunch of linked computers, and that is probably the best way to think about a network, as an interconnected community of different things.
In the online world we can then take a Network to mean an interconnected group of people, or businesses, or programs, or pages, or any number of other similar things. In the Bricks and Mortar world Think Football Clubs or Police Forces or Government agencies or any other group of similar or like entities.
What is Marketing?
In the online world the term marketing can have a duel function, Marketing can be described as the "Methods" used by an "Affiliate or Salesperson" to "Advertise and sell" or "Market" whatever, product or service it is, that they are selling for themselves or a company.
"Marketing" can also be used to describe the "Methods" used to bring visitors or drive customers to a web site.
Just as in real life and traditional "bricks and mortar" businesses, where we have different shops and companies, marketing a huge variety of products and services to the public, all kinds of things from clothes and groceries to motor vehicles. From, Boats to Batman Costumes.
Now you are probably getting a clearer idea of why I said It depends when we try to answer the question "What is network marketing exactly?"
As you can see it can and does mean number of different things.
